How to turn every stat into a growth opportunity

👥 What Is Coaching by Stats?


Coaching by stats means you:

  1. Review a staff member’s weekly production
  2. Help them determine the condition of their post
  3. Guide them to apply the right formula
  4. Provide support, not control

“It’s not about making people wrong — it’s about helping them win.”

This method builds ownership, initiative, and confidence.



🧭 When to Use This Coaching Method

  1. Weekly staff check-ins
  2. After a stat drop
  3. During onboarding
  4. When someone feels stuck or unmotivated
  5. As a leadership development tool



📊 The Coaching Routine

1. Start with the Stat

Ask: “What was your stat last week? And this week?”

  1. Look at the trend, not just the number
  2. Use a graph if possible

2. Identify the Condition

Based on the trend, ask:

  1. “What condition do you think you’re in?”

Let them evaluate themselves first — this builds awareness.

If unsure, guide them using the graph shapes (from Module 4).

3. Review or Assign the Formula

  1. Pull out the formula card or checklist
  2. Ask: “Have you done this?”
  3. Discuss actions taken or missing steps

4. Coach the Implementation

  1. Offer help, tools, or time for them to complete the formula
  2. Remove barriers
  3. Encourage ownership

5. Follow Up

  1. Review next week’s stat
  2. Repeat the cycle



👤 Coaching Emmanuel: A Practical Example

Week 4: Emmanuel’s stat drops from 6 to 2

  1. Trend = downtrend → Emergency condition
  2. Coach helps him apply Emergency Formula
  3. Tightens field time
  4. Promotes his availability to ops
  5. Revisits the tools checklist
  6. Week 5 stat = 5
  7. Week 6 = 6 → back to Normal

This is measurable, supportive coaching.



🧠 Tips for Effective Coaching

  1. Ask, don’t tell — help staff evaluate themselves
  2. Be consistent — weekly is best
  3. Track trends, not feelings
  4. Use condition formulas as tools, not punishment
  5. Build a safe space for applying formulas — even low ones
